Description:
How do we evolve together as men and women?
A Circling weekend exploring the role of gender conditioning on our embodied experience of being together and how we might step into a new way of relating. Co-led by Jim Eaton (Circling Facilitator and Coach) and Kerry Stevenson (Mindfulness-based Teacher)
How do the identities, expectations and stories we carry about gender shape the way we experience ourselves and meet one another? What happens in the space between us when we encounter a body, identity or way of being that is different from our own?
We’ll be particularly curious about the dynamics that can arise between male and female bodies, as well as between people of the same sex:
- The way we perceive and respond to one another
- How we project onto each other
- What we expect, fear, desire or protect against
- The ways we might find ourselves rescuing, blaming, withdrawing or becoming the victim
What happens when I step out of those familiar roles? Can we meet one another beyond the stories we carry about gender?
Over two days, we’ll use Circling and Surrendered Leadership as a way of exploring these questions together.
Circling invites us to slow down, become more aware of our immediate experience and pay attention to what is happening between us in real time. Rather than discussing gender as an abstract concept, we’ll explore how it actually shows up in the room: in our bodies, our assumptions, attraction and discomfort, power and vulnerability, desire and rejection, and the ways we seek connection, safety and belonging.
No previous experience in these practices is necessary as they will be taught over the weekend. For more info on circling go here.
The group will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants
